Warmest of holiday wishes from all of us at the Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia!
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” – Margaret J. Wheatley
As staff and board of the CSCNS we have the privilege of working with many caring people and organizations across this province. We are inspired by your creativity, resilience, passion and brilliance and how you bring these qualities to the work of building healthy and vibrant communities. We wish you all the very best over the holidays.
As this calendar year winds down and we look toward early 2020, we hope you will join us at one or more of the upcoming events:
“What We Heard” Sessions – In 2019, as part of our Strategic Planning process, we hosted six community consultations with over 300 people registered and partnered with the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council on a workforce survey that was completed by over 400 nonprofits. We are excited about what we heard and now would like to invite you to join us in January at one of two “What We Heard” sessions. We will be sharing the prominent threads and trends we hear from across the consultations. Your input will help us confirm our directions for the strategic plan we are developing.
Monday, January 13th from 2-4pm
Cape Breton session
Thursday, January 16 from 1-3pm
Financial Sustainability – As the third offering in the Non-Profit Organizational Core Competencies, this full day session delves into Sound Financial Practices, Fund Development, Strategic Thinking and Fostering Innovation, followed by grant identification and proposal writing skill development. We will offer this session in six regional areas at a low-cost registration with a discount for organizations sending 2 or more participants.
Register for the session in your area today!
Poster/Graphic Design workshop – Join us in the New Year for a 3-hour hands-on workshop designed to teach the basics of making great posters. Participants will learn principles of good Graphic Design and how to apply those techniques using Canva.com – a free online graphic design tool – to create eye-catching posters to promote non-profit activities including events, programs, and community initiatives!
